Painting the Irena Sendler Story

Painting the Irena Sendler Story features the beautiful original paintings illustrator/artist Bill Farnsworth created for the children’s book Irena Sendler and The Children of The Warsaw Ghetto, by author Susan Goldman Rubin. He and Ms. Rubin have teamed up to create several children’s books dealing with the Holocaust and World War II.

The Irena book is an integral part of the Museum’s 5th grade portion of the 5-8-10 Project. In an age-appropriate manner, the book introduces students to the impact one person’s positive actions can have on the lives of others. Ms. Sendler, who worked as part of an underground resistance group, saved nearly 2,500 children from the infamous Warsaw Ghetto during World War II.
